Inaugural GITHS 2009 Blogging Awards

Today I want to say happy holidays to all my readers and a huge thank you for visiting Get In the Hot Spot and hanging out with me here.

Lately I’ve realised I was crazy to write about personal development ~ it’s a flooded subject and highly competitive too. But looking back I didn’t choose personal development, it seemed to choose me.

My Dream

Get In the Hot Spot grew organically and I hope to differentiate myself from other personal development bloggers by being ‘the dream woman’. The person who not only encourages and shows people how to live their dream but also walks the walk and dares to be different. Most of all I want to write articles that are concise, real and useful.

My Suppport Network

Since I started blogging I’ve had brilliant support from friends and relatives and I’ve also enjoyed encouragement, comments, empathy and feedback from many other bloggers.

They’re an amazing bunch of people in far flung corners of the world. Many of them write personal development or lifestyle design blogs themselves, while others shudder at the very thought of personal development and have carved out more tangible niches for themselves in business or blog instruction.

To acknowledge their place in my blogging world and to introduce them to my readers and each other I’ve created an awards list. There’s a big wide world of blogs out here but I think there’s room for all of us.

Thank you

Thanks again to all my dear readers, faithful friends and fellow bloggers.  And good luck with all your plans in 2010.

    Hi Annabel,
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I love being voted “Zaniest” on your GITHS 2009 Blogging Awards list. I’m deeply honored. Thank you for providing this great list of bloggers to discover and re-visit. You rock, Candy-Girl!

  2. Karol Gajda December 25, 2009 at 4:22 am - Reply

    Hey Annabel!

Thanks for including me on this list. :)

“Lately I’ve realised I was crazy to write about personal development ~ it’s a flooded subject and highly competitive too.”

From a marketing perspective, going where there’s a lot of competition actually makes it easier to succeed. The difficulty lies in finding the hook, the element that separates you from your competition. (You already touched upon this in the My Dream paragraph above.)

Here’s to you reaching your 1,000 subscriber goal in 2010!

    Hey Annabel:

This a great way to show everybody your appreciation! I really liked the idea. It also is a great resource for me to explore as I am looking to get more unique and interesting knowledge to develop my website and my life!

Thanks for sharing the important people who have helped you along the way. Happy Holidays to you as well!

    Best of luck!

Fabulous idea! You come up with some good ones. Really appreciate you putting me on the list! It made my day. I have learned a lot from you already, that is why I continue to read your posts.

Loved Karol’s comment about setting yourself apart from the competition as well. That guy knows his stuff. Happy holidays in Noosa!

Cheryl – Glad you approve. I thought it would be a nice Xmas present for everyone. Sometimes you feel as if you write your heart out when you’re blogging and wonder if anyone cares. We do!

Karol – Interesting feedback. I hope you’re right and thanks for all the encouragement:)

Tomas – I think one of the great things about writing your own blog is you can do what you want! So if I want to host my own awards ceremony and nominate my blogging peers I can. I think you all deserve the recognition.

Randall – You were a late entry but a worthy one:)

    Hi Anabel,
Terrific list. So many bloggers in our niches I’ve never heard of. You sure do get around. Lol!

Thank you for including me on the list as “Most off the Wall”. I shall wear that badge proudly. :)

    Merry Christmas! xxoo

Having got over the initial shock of failing to win either the “Most domesticated goddess” or the “Sexiest” category, I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations to all the winners.

  8. Connie December 27, 2009 at 2:53 am - Reply

So proud to be in such good company :-) Hope you are having a great holiday…

  9. Annabel Candy December 27, 2009 at 1:00 pm - Reply

Gordie – There are so many sides to you – to all of us but you definitely deserve an award:)

Connie – You too, cooking up a storm no doubt!

  10. Eric | Eden Journal December 29, 2009 at 12:26 am - Reply

Awesome list. I may steal the idea if I can come up with enough creative categories.

Thanks for awarding me the title of “Most Mysterious.” I have to ask though, what makes me mysterious?

  11. Annabel Candy December 29, 2009 at 10:51 am - Reply

Eric – The about section on your blog – no name:)

  12. Fida January 4, 2010 at 4:34 am - Reply

Well, Annabel, I am glad personal development has chosen you!

I am still new at this website thing, and it can get overwhelming at times. Your site is a good source to come to and get some real inspiration to cool down and get back on track again ;-)

And thank you so much for the mention – I think you are the real “Sweetie” here!

  13. Lori January 4, 2010 at 9:31 am - Reply

    Hi Annabel,

I second Connie – amazing company you’ve surrounded me with! (Dangling participle, I know, but I just needed to do it!)

You’re certainly well read, girlfriend. I also am touched that you’d think I’m positive – I suppose I’m putting up a very good front! (ha) Really, your designation means a lot to me – I honestly give it all I’ve got every day to remain positive. :)

Maybe next year I can be designated, “Most amazing recovery from a chronic disease.” ;)

BTW: Love the Most Hardworking, Off the Wall, and Most Paradoxical. True indeed, true indeed. I find I agree with all your designations, actually, so thanks for the beautiful list!

Cheers to 2010 and thanks again for linking me, Annabel!
