Hi Luminescent, I was just speaking to a friend and she said the same thing. It shocked me but I guess it’s true that image is a reason why some people travel. For me the cultural exchange and growth opportunities are so much more rewarding:)

I think one of the primary reasons people travel is to perpetuate status. Not true of everybody, not the writer I would guess. But the motivation for a 2 week trip to China or to Eygpt is often the same for many as buying a luxury handbag or car. Very unpopular view, I know.
