6 Inspiring Dance Videos To Rock Your World

Here’s a reminder that there are many creative ways to do things. I love to dance. Dancing’s fun and can be a good work out too, but I’ve never tried dancing to change the world. Some people have though, and I think it might have worked.

Here are 6 dance videos to inspire and delight you

They may amuse you, surprise you and touch you too, plus they’re all examples of people using the power of dance to change their own lives, and even change the world.

Just watching these dancers fills me with hope, energy and enthusiasm and that’s got to be a good thing. I hope they’ll have the same effect on you.

Shut Up and Dance

If you can’t dance yourself, come up with another creative way to change your life. Try writing, painting, taking photos, singing, writing music, acting, or just about any form of exercise.

In case you’re wondering, Shut Up and Dance, is a great song by Shaggy which I love. The chorus goes something like this:

I said, hey, you standin over there by that wall,
Get  up do your thing on that floor.
Don’t stop! Party till the break of day.
Are  you  ready? Shut up and dance.

It looks lame in print – I guess you need to hear it and you can, right here on the Amazon website. Make sure your boss isn’t around and hit preview. Now get up and have a boogey:) Go on, no one’s watching.

Now, I’ll shut up so you can watch people dance.

Sasquatch Music Festival 2009

Do you ever feel that no one really gets you? That no one cares? Have you ever felt powerless? Watch this hilarious al fresco dancing guy start a rave and you’ll realise that you can change the world, start people thinking and create a following just by doing you own thing and being yourself. This video is a call to action.

Prison Inmates Dance to Thriller

These inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines practice their dance routine as a tribute to Michael Jackson. Sure, it’s not as polished as the original video, but if shows the resilience of the human soul and how much we should value our freedom.

Where the hell is Matt?

Matt Harding’s videos of him doing a frankly inane and rhythmless dance went viral in 2006 for a reason. It’s not about dancing ability but just getting our there, doing crazy stuff and not being ashamed of who you are. Roll your eyes, cringe in embarrassment but please hand it to the man – he’s entertained a lot of people, taught us something about tolerance and helped many people see a little of the world through his adventures. I like it best when the locals join in, and I think Matt might have lost a bit of weight thanks to all that dancing too.

Elvis Presley

Needs no introduction really. Elvis is the ultimate hip whose dance moves and music shook up the world. Here he performs Hound Dog.

Evolution of Dance by Judson Laipply

Clever comedy routine which will make you laugh and marvel at how the world changes, how fashion influences us and how fast times change. If we want to survive we need to be adaptable.

Power Shift Sydney Flash Dance

A flash dance organised in July 2009 to bring awareness to Power Shift and their plea for renewable energy sources. Set to a selection of fave tunes like Forever Young, Everybody Dance Now, What Is Love? and Sweet Dreams Are Made of This, the raw dance on the streets of Sydney and in front of the Sydney Opera House will make you want to stand up for what you believe in or just shake your buns.

For me, these videos are the final proof that actions speak louder than words. Happy viewing and thanks for visiting GetIntheHotSpot.com it’s great to be in touch with you.

Annabel, you forgot this one – ‘The Sound of Music’ in Antwerp Train Station. It’s on You Tube – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkBepgH00GM (Hope ok to include link!)
I just love the way people carrying on with their everyday lives suddenly find themselves immersed in a full-on show! Inspiring!

Eduard – I love salsa too and spent more time learning that than I did spanish before going to Central America. Not as useful as learning the lingo but then dance is a language in itself really.

Buzz – Thanks! I love it.

I love dancing. It’s a great way to express yourself and enjoy yourself. Not to mention stay fit. I do salsa dancing for a while now and it can be quite addicting. Which reminds me of what I’ll be doing this weekend :)

What a fantastic collection… the Sound Of Music one from Belgium that Buzz mentioned is one of my all-time favorites- I’ll play it on a day I need a pick-me-up and it always does the trick!

Another favorite to add: Flash Mob during Oprah – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ILFlT1nMgM – the whole dance was choreographed & taught to the crowd (some the day before who taught those around them) and was a suprise to O… it is so neat to see so many people having fun together!
